QUALITY ASSURANCE
Look for the Qualmark, New Zealand tourism's official mark of quality.

Home to a population of more than one million people, Auckland represents the largest urban city in New Zealand. Auckland's waterside location has fostered the locals' love affair with the sea, earning this place the nickname "City of Sails".

Auckland lies across an 11 kilometre wide volcanic isthmus separating two harbours - the Waitemata and Manukau - and is a water lover’s paradise with what is believed to be the largest boat ownership per capita in the world. A cloak of rainforest covers the surrounding hills, dozens of dormant volcanic cones dot the landscape and enchanting holiday islands are scattered throughout the vast Hauraki Gulf.

Two of the best island getaways are Waiheke Island and Great Barrier Island. Auckland's heart beats to a Polynesian rhythm, its people a melting pot of European, South Pacific and Asian cultures and a strong Maori heritage. This diversity brings with it an abundance of unique dining and shopping experiences. Auckland's temperate climate, easy access to the coast and variety of activities earn the city consistent top five rankings in international lifestyle surveys.

Your vessel docks either at Princes or Queens Wharf in the Viaduct Basin, in central downtown Auckland. Downtown Auckland is easily explored on foot. The Auckland i-SITE Visitor Centre is located at the end of Princes Wharf and the main shopping street of Queen Street is just 5 minutes walk from the vessel.

To explore the different Auckland suburbs such as Newmarket, Parnell and Ponsonby, for their superb shopping and dining options, there are three public bus options that you can take.

City Circuit Bus: The City Circuit bus is a free service that operates a small circuit that runs around central downtown linking key destinations in Auckland city. The bus runs every 10 minutes from 8am to 6pm, seven days a week. You can pick up a free city bus brochure at Tourism Auckland's i-SITE Visitor Information Centre at the end of Princes wharf.

The Link Bus: The Link Bus is the green bus which runs in a circuit around Auckland's inner suburbs and popular shopping areas. Ticket costs NZD 1.60 per ride.

The Explorer Bus: The Explorer Bus is a hop on, hop off service which takes you around many of Auckland's key attractions whilst providing a running commentary. Adult all day bus pass costs NZD 35. Pick up is beside the Ferry Building on Quay Street. From Princes Wharf, exit the pier and turn left onto Quay Street – the pick up point is a 5 minute walk.
