Arrive to a warm welcome at your hosted B&B accommodation in Nelson city. Relax in the privacy of your room or mingle with the other guests over pre-dinner drinks. There is a wealth of dining out options in Nelson city from casual pizzerias to fine waterfront seafood dining. Your lodge bags and a packing list will be delivered to your accommodation so take time to ensure that you have all that you will need for the next 5 days’ adventure packed in your lodge bag. The next morning you will be collected bright and early and transferred to Kaiteriteri with your fellow walkers to begin the track. Imagine walking through shady native forest and along sandy beaches where turquoise clear waters lap the shore. The Abel Tasman Coastal Track is in one of smallest but most accessible National Parks in New Zealand. As well as an abundance of native trees and ferns, the waters in the park are a protected marine reserve so a wide variety of birdlife can be seen as well as dolphins, seals and penguins. Enjoy a scenic cruise up the coastline and get a waterborne view of the coastal track that you will walk over the next few days. A moderate walk, the Coastal Track is a fine example of regenerating and mature native New Zealand flora and fauna. You will learn about the history of the whole country as well as this area, from Maori settlement to the history of the Wilson family - your hosts in the Park. Each day consists of 4-5 hours walking with day 4 as a rest day. Take this opportunity to explore the forest, lagoons and hidden bays or literally rest with a good book and the ocean lapping nearby. Lunch each day will be taken by a pristine waterfall or on one of the many golden sandy beaches. At the end of each day you will be accommodated in one of the Wilsons’ superbly located and atmospheric beachfront lodges. Relaxing with your fellow walkers over a glass of New Zealand wine is a fine way to end the day. All meals are included along with private ensuite accommodation. Luggage is transferred each day to your next night’s stop so all you need to carry with you is a day pack. At the end of day 5 you will be transferred back to Nelson to your bed and breakfast accommodation (1 night post tour included). Conditions of saleOffer valid for bookings made by 30 September 08.
