Whitewater rafting in Queenstown

Whitewater rafting in Queenstown is one of the most popular 'must do' adventure activities

Queenstown is often refered to as "the adventure capital of the world' and no visit would be complete without tackling one of the South Islands rivers with Queenstown Rafting.

An adrenalin fuelled trip down the Shotover River is often described as a highlight of the many New Zealand attractions for many, with the journey into Skippers Canyon an adventure activity in itself. The road with precarious drop offs and stunning views, winds slowly down to the Shotover River in the Skippers Canyon below where the white water adventure begins.

After a full safety briefing - having already been kitted out with full wetsuit and equipment, you are soon on the water and learning the rafting and paddling techniques you'll need for rapids named such as Oh Sh*t, Toilet and Jaws. But the highlight is the 170m Oxenbridge tunnel at the end which pops you out at the last rapid called Cascade.

No experience required, in fact 80% of clients have never rafted before. Located in central Queenstown, this should be a water activity on everyones must do list.

Rafting has been in Queenstown since 1974 and is one of the original adventure activities available in this adventure mecca destination.
