Auckland offers a diverse range of scenery and the same goes for day walks in the area. All within a few hours' drive – or ferry ride – of the CBD.

Take a short ferry ride to Rangitoto Island, an iconic part of the Auckland landscape. Climb to the top of the dormant volcano on the Rangitoto Summit Track and experience awesome views of the city. This walk is a great option if you’d like to get out on the water and do some walking.

If you’re in the mood for wild rugged beaches and shaded native bush, go west to the Waitakare Ranges and complete the Te Henga Walkway. Walk on by beaches with large swells and endless dunes like Piha and Muriwai.

To experience a cross section of Auckland life, try the Coast to Coast Walk. Although this walk only lasts for 4 – 5 hours, it crosses the entire width of the country and passes by heritage sites, volcanoes, and city scenes. It’s a great way to get up close and personal with our largest city.
