Golf

If you’re a golfer you’ll know that it’s impossible to go somewhere without looking for a course. Well, welcome to New Zealand. New Zealand has over 400 golf courses. They’re everywhere, from the big cities to the smallest country towns. Best of all, they’re accessible. Green fees are remarkably reasonable and visitors are always welcome. So if you want a round or two, not a problem.

There are courses and there are special courses. At Carrington Club in Northland you play with vineyards on one side and the sweep of the ocean on the other. Kauri Cliffs, at Matauri Bay - just north of the Bay of Islands - is a par 72 championship course that winds through marsh, forest and farmland. Six of the holes are played alongside cliffs which plunge to the sea – don’t lose your ball. And at Lakes Resort in Coromandel’s Pauanui, you can play on one of New Zealand’s top 10 courses that meanders its way through pristine native wetlands.

If a good round of golf feeds the body, mind and soul, then you will find yourself well fed.
