Jack Osbourne 'Adrenaline Junkie' in New Zealand

Rock ‘n’ roll Jack is no longer. Now fit, and with an insatiable thirst for adventure, Jack Osbourne headed to New Zealand with ITV2 show, ‘Jack Osbourne Adrenaline Junkie 2’ to take on the ultimate challenge: kayak over a seven metre, Class 5 waterfall - the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world.

On the untamed rapids of one of New Zealand’s premier white water kayaking rivers, Jack attempted to gain the skills and knowledge to take on the formidable challenge of kayaking over a two-storey waterfall. Excitement, trepidation and thrills are all part of this unique experience.

"I always thought New Zealand would be cool; it is home to the world’s greatest adrenaline sports, so I knew I would have a great time - although I was really nervous about kayaking."

Although his adventure series takes him from the deserts of the Sahara to the fighting rings of India, New Zealand was definitely his favourite destination.

"Being in New Zealand was probably a top highlight. New Zealand was amazing… It’s an awesome country; one of my favourite things on the show was getting over my fear of kayaking and going over the waterfall."

The Trip

The adrenaline adventure began in the thermal wonderland of Rotorua, at a three day, intensive kayaking camp with extreme kayaking pro, Shaun Baker. At the end of his training Jack took on the seven metre Tutea Falls on the Kaituna River.

The team then headed south to Queenstown in search of more thrills. They drove from Christchurch to Queenstown through the spectacular South Island scenery of the Canterbury Plains, Lake Tekapo and the Lindis Pass.

The tour was topped off with the madness of Fly By Wire, the world’s fastest adventure flight, and Canyon Swing, the world’s highest commercial swing, in the adventure capital of Queenstown.

Rotorua is the spiritual home to the Maori of Te Arawa, and is set amidst crystal clear crater lakes. Visitors can experience bubbling mud pools, spouting geysers and hot water beaches, alongside the proud spirit and deep sense of history of one of New Zealand’s Maori heartlands.

On the shores of Lake Wakatipu, overlooked by the Southern Alps, Queenstown offers relaxation at its best. Queenstown’s reputation as the adventure capital of the world is well earned, visitors can choose to join in or watch the selection of safe, breath-taking activities. Arrowtown, a historic gold mining town is only a short 20-minute drive away.
