Outwest Tours offers two unforgettable off-road 4WD adventures departing from Westport on the West Coast. The Stockton Mine Tour (5–6 hours) is an exclusive guided journey through New Zealand's largest opencast coal mine, with stunning views of the Tasman Sea and Southern Alps, plus a behind-the-scenes look at modern mining operations. The Denniston Plateau Tour (5 hours) climbs to a historic coal-mining plateau 600 metres above sea level, exploring fascinating relics, the legendary Denniston Incline, and panoramic scenery from Mt Rochfort at 1,040m. Both tours depart from the Westport isite Visitor Centre.
