Exhibition highlights include Te Ātihaunui a Pāpārangi - The Māori Court, featuring the war canoe Te Mata o Hoturoa, the popular moa bone and whale bone displays, and a regular programme of changing exhibitions showcasing items from the Museum's world-class collection. The Museum is one of New Zealand’s leading collecting and exhibiting institutions of international importance, especially in the areas of natural history, Taonga Māori, Whanganui cultural history, and archives.
