A tiny riverside settlement, Pipiriki is the southern gateway to Whanganui National Park, and the last stop on the famous Whanganui River Journey.

To travel the road from Whanganui to Pipiriki is to journey into a seldom-visited corner of New Zealand. Take the time to stop and experience some of the interesting sites, and meet the friendly locals.

The village stands at the end of the majestic four-day Whanganui River Journey, one of New Zealand's Nine Great Walks.

From Pipiriki, you can take a jetboat to the Bridge to Nowhere, or head out hiking or mountain biking in the National Park.

Stay at the campground or in boutique accommodation like Pipiriki Cottage, and enjoy a bite to eat at the local takeaway.
