Independently traverse varied and rugged wilderness on the west coast, exploring routes of early Maori gatherers and gold miners in NZ’s second-largest national park. Enjoy the convenience of all the logistics covered – from accommodation, route maps, meals and more.
Each section of the Heaphy Track is anything but boring – from alpine tussocks to wild rivers and remote beaches. Listen for the sound of the great spotted Kiwi birds and keep an eye out for rare wildlife such as the flightless Takahe and Powelliphanta (carnivorous snail).
While a PLB is provided, we recommend a minimum of 2 people for this trip for safety reasons. However, solo travellers with good remote hiking experience in changeable weather will find it achievable.
