Morris & James' forty five year history began with a passion for mud and colour and a desire to create enduring, hand made ceramics from the clay terraces bordering the Matakana River pottery. The Morris & James collections include one off design pieces, Classic, Kiwiana and Contemporary pots as well as other smaller easier to carry ceramic pieces. Colour is Morris & James’ trademark with stunning signature glazes sitting alongside beauties such as earthy manganese and the new brilliants; dramatic pieces that are both aesthetically pleasing and practical. All this can be seen at the pottery gallery. We run a free factory tour every day at 11.30. This covers all the stages of production from the claymaking, throwing, kiln firing and glazing.
