Mt Richmond forest park surrounds the valley which brings many native birds into the camp looking for food. The area is an historic gold field with claims still operating so you can try your hand at gold panning. The night sky dazzles with stars and glowworms are seen around the streams. Nearby vineyards offer renown wines and the hop fields produce some of the best beers. Nearby Havelock offers great dinning and the opportunity to jump on a boat and cruise the dramatic scenery of the Marlborough Sounds. Many great walking tracks are nearby from scenic short trips to challenging multi day hikes... all too much? Stop at the Hotel at the bottom of the valley before heading back for a swim in the crystal clear waters of the Wakamarina River.
