Getting around 

Kaikoura is a tender port with harbour facilities at South Bay Marina and North Wharf.

South Bay Marina is 2.5km (1.6 miles) from Kaikoura township and is also the launching point for most water-based tourist operators. 

Recently reconstructed, North Wharf is 2.3km (1.4 miles) from Kaikoura township.

Both provide shuttle services to the township which takes approximately 5 minutes. Pick-ups from local operators is possible by prior arrangement. 

On foot: 

Kaikoura township is compact, making walking very easy. Many cafes, restaurants and tour operators are only a short distance from the centre of town.
