Coastal rainforest hike to Port William, an inland forest hike with sawmill relics to North Arm, followed by a hike along the beautiful northern shore of Paterson Inlet to Oban.  Stay at DOC huts. Carry only personal belongings. Duration is 3 days.

The Rakiura Great Walk traverses original and regenerated rainforest along coastal sections with evidence of early European settlement and activity and inland forest with beautiful carpets of mosses and old rata trees. The coastal sections include picturesque coastal scenery and hidden bays.

We hike to Port William Hut, then North Arm Hut and out to Oban.

The North Arm track follows the northern shore of Paterson Inlet with lovely views over the water. North Arm Hut is near the beach. The inland track offers some delightful bridges and interesting sawmill relics. Port William, a sheltered bay, overlooks the sea.
