Run, jog or walk your way to the finish line, then unwind in Rotorua’s hot pools, soothing spas and pure geothermal goodness.
Set among Rotorua’s towering redwoods and geothermal landscapes, Run The Forest is a winter trail celebration welcoming runners of every pace. Each August, the festival rolls out a line-up of distances - from easygoing forest loops for newcomers to the more demanding 21 km and 10 km courses shaped by the whenua (land) and its stories.
The 21 km journey begins at Te Puia, sending runners past the breathtaking surge of the Pohutu Geyser before heading into the trails. The 10 km sets off from the Whakarewarewa Living Māori Village, guiding participants through the heart of the village itself before opening into the forest beyond.
