We start walking from the parking area at an altitude of 400 metres, and climb slowly as we progress up the river gorge in the forest of native beech trees, while admiring the wildflowers and birds. You will look at the remains of gold miner’s efforts some 160 years ago, peer into an historic cottage and learn about Queenstown's history from your informative local guide. After a break at the cottage, the walking trail climbs to the highest point at an altitude of 550m, with views of Lake Wakatipu and Dispute.
