Join us for a unique dark sky experience in the Pukaki Wine Cellar & Observatory. This is a fun, informative and unique experience where you will explore the universe in a small group setting. Starting in the wine cellar, you will be treated to a glass of wine or tot of whisky from our curated collection, whilst being introduced to the Dark Sky Reserve features. We then go to the Observatory, which is equipped with a 6-inch refractor telescope, where you can look at faraway objects like Saturn.

Cancellation Policy angle-down

You may cancel your booking up until 24 hours prior to the experience start time and date at no charge. If you cancel within 24 hours of your booking time and date full payment will be required. In this case, you authorise payment from the credit card provided at time of booking. We may need to cancel your stargazing experience in the event of bad weather (snow and/or ice, rain or extreme winds) or if stargazing conditions are compromised by cloud cover.

Located in the gold level Aoraki International Dark Sky Reserve, Pukaki Wine Cellar Observatory is perfectly located to explore one of the darkest skies in the world. The observatory is well equipped with a 6" refractor telescope, you can take a closer look at far away objects such as Saturn, Jupiter and its moons, clusters, nebula and constellations. We specialise is small group stargazing experiences. The Observatory is adjacent to our underground wine cellar and your experience includes refreshments, nibbles and an introduction the Dark Sky in the Wine Cellar. If you have a Canon or Nikon DSLR camera, bring this along for amazing deep space astrophotography opportunities.
