If you are into swimming, there are a number of excellent choices. Mahia Beach in the north of the region is a favourite, with a long sandy beach and warm water becoming a playground for swimmers, particularly during the Christmas holidays.
A number of the beaches along the Mahia Peninsula are also great spots for fishing and diving while surfers can also find some really good breaks.
A little south of Mahia you will find Waipatiki and Tangoio beaches which are ideal for a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of city life.
In Napier city, Westshore and Ocean Beaches are great for cooling off on a long, hot summers afternoon while a little further from town, Ocean Beach and Waimarama, are ideal places for swimming, surfing and boogie boarding.
To Central Hawke’s Bay we go to experience the tranquility of Kairakau, Mangakuri, Pourerere, Aramoana, Blackhead and Porangahau beaches.
As you would expect with 360 kilometres of coastline, Hawke’s Bay has something for everyone when it comes to water activities and with plenty of sunshine, your day at the beach is one you want to repeat, over and over again.
