1st October to 14th May (inclusive). Those in control of the rail cart must hold a valid NZ driver's licence. Young children are most welcome in the rail carts as long as they are securely strapped into a car seat or booster seat appropriate for their age. Children under the age of 3 are not permitted to travel by jet boat for safety reasons. Prices quoted are based on twin share, single supplement may apply. Prices are inclusive of GST and all taxes.

Cancellation Policy angle-down

If for any reason you cancel your experience, whilst we are unable to refund the deposit, we will keep it on file so you can use it again if you book another date with us or you can transfer it to another experience. About

All FWA experiences feature an iconic self-driven rail cart journey on the 142km long historic Stratford-Okahukura Line (SOL). Rail River Run is a full day guided adventure exploring breathtaking landscapes, combining a half day 40km rail cart trip and a 23km jet boat cruise along the majestic Whanganui River. Popular with all ages and abilities this is the perfect experience for those wishing to discover the Forgotten World by land and from the water, with plenty of opportunity to learn about the region's early pioneers. Difficulty: Easy to medium. Inclusions: Shuttle transfers to start and finish and shuttles between rail and river, morning and afternoon tea with home baking, rail-side picnic lunch. Departs: 7.30am/10.30am - Taumarunui.
