Freestylers will be anxious to try out Cardrona’s four terrain parks. Cardrona has a well-earned reputation for its freestyle facilities. Twenty one freestyle athletes who trained at Cardrona went on to win Olympic medals in Sochi in 2014.
This season get your caffeine fix from a on-mountain alfresco café on the top of Home Basin. This is definitely the spot for a selfie or two. Treble Cone has twice won the New Zealand Best Ski Resort at the World Ski Awards in Kitzbuhel and is a magnet for skiers from around teh globe.
Snow Farm NZ
The Nordic cross country skiers at Sochi certainly look graceful – something for you to aspire towards at New Zealand’s only Nordic ski area, the Snow Farm. Glide around 40km of groomed cross-country trails or try snow shoeing, sledding and maybe a dog sled tour. Situated high on the Pisa range (directly opposite Cardrona) the views are breathtaking.
Base yourself in Edgewater
Wanaka is without doubt your fun base for a ski holiday in the region, and this is where you’ll find Edgewater. Wake up in the morning, dial-in for the latest snow report and decide which ski area you’re going to tackle. Drive times vary but generally, within 40 minutes you’ll be on your favourite slope in the region.
Heli-skiing is also an option - be whisked from Edgewater's on-site helipad to the sparkling, snowy slopes that surround the region. Enjoy the sound of silence before you zoom down through the powdery slopes. This is an epic experience.
After a day in the mountains enjoy the Après ski atmosphere in Edgewater’s Wineglass Café. Our walk-in drying room is perfect for damp ski gear and you can melt away muscle fatigue with a relaxing massage at our Edgewater Element’s Day Spa.
