This tour starts with a scenic drive out of the city and inland over the Kaimai ranges providing spectacular panoramic views across Waikato province. On arrival your guide takes you on a 2-hour journey through "The Shire". You will hear the story of how the set was discovered and that Hobbiton is a living film set maintained by a team of gardeners. It is the only purpose-built film set in the world where the public can experience it as it was in the movies. After a break we head back over the Kaimai range stopping at the look-out to take pictures and then on to our final stop McLaren Falls a 190 hectare park set alongside Lake McLaren with a ten minute walk through native New Zealand bush-land to view a picturesque waterfall.
