The Hauraki Rail Trail between the spectacular Karangahake Gorge and Waihi is proving incredibly popular.
Cyclists can park in Waihi, close to wonderful food and accommodation options, then ride the scenic route to Karangahake to experience historic gold mining relics and great scenery in the Gorge. Goldfields Railway offer return trips from the Waikino Station Cafe to Waihi Station. Once back in Waihi and refreshed, there's the Pit Rim Walkway to experience for awesome views over town and into the massive Martha Mine, and for the more adventurous there's great single-track riding around Winner Hill and Black Hill from the end of Clarke Street.
