Situated on the northern edge of Lake Taupō Kinloch is a small village with a great, big view.

Located 20 minutes' drive from Taupō township, Kinloch is a cosy settlement with spectacular views of Lake Taupō and the mountains of Tongariro National Park. Its sandy beach and relaxed vibe make it a lovely summer holiday location or the perfect base for mountain biking the popular Great Lake Trail– a 71km grade 3 (intermediate) trail that will take you deep into native bush surrounding Lake Taupō. The Great Lake Trail is part of the New Zealand Cycle Trail network. Dramatic scenery combines with serene lake views, powerful waterfalls, native bird song and incredible trail quality to deliver an unforgettable experience.

Nestled within Whangamata Bay, the crystal-clear waters surrounding Kinloch are popular for fly-fishing, while charter boats and the marina make it easy to get out on the water.

Golfers will enjoy The Kinloch Club, an award-winning golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus.

With just over 300 residents, Kinloch has a range of accommodation on offer, as well as a cafe and local store.
