Highwic is one of New Zealand's finest timber houses, built in 1862 as the Buckland family home, their wealth and social status is evident in the property's grand design. A self-guided tour allows you to wander at your leisure through the lovely colonial home and to explore the 4-star Garden of Significance, a haven from the bustle of nearby Newmarket. Time your visit for the regular coal range baking days (first Wed of the month), or the Up-Close Guided Tours (last Thursday of the month). Highwic is available for hire for private functions including weddings, corporate events and meeting.
