Free farm tour for stays of 4 + nights. We love welcoming families Ripples Retreat is a magical place for kids to explore Both cabins sit beside flowing water and are unfenced, so children must be closely supervised by a sober adult. If you’re bringing children under 4 years, please contact us before booking. No pets, parties, smoking or vaping. Two-night minimum; 3–5 nights on long weekends, summer holidays and Easter. Single-night stays may be available last minute and between bookings.
Cancellations made 21 days or more before arrival are fully refundable, though we always prefer to rebook you - no one should miss a stay at Ripples Retreat. We recommend purchasing travel insurance for unexpected changes.
River Song Cabin is a handcrafted, self-contained riverside retreat set on a peaceful working farm near Waitomo. Sleeping up to five, the open-plan studio features a king four-poster bed and a separate nook for additional beds, making it ideal for couples, honeymooners, friends or small families. Designed for slow, unhurried stays, the cabin sits beside the Mangaotaki River, where guests can swim, fish or kayak directly from the property. Evenings are often spent soaking in the outdoor bath under open skies.
River Song is close to glowworm caves, dramatic limestone landscapes and Hobbit™ filming locations, and just 2¾ hours from Auckland International Airport - a relaxed and authentic New Zealand escape.
