The lakeside town of Wanaka attracts visitors with its spectacular landscapes, range of things to do and events. Being close to Mt Aspiring National Park makes it the ultimate base for outdoor activities.  

For adventure seekers, you can go flightseeing, sky diving, canyoning and climbing. Or plan your visit around a fun event like Warbirds over Wanaka. Every two years the town hosts a spectacular airshow revolving around classic military aircraft. Classed as one of the best warbird shows in the world it features historic aircraft, RNZAF jets, aerobatic formations and helicopters. Other events to put on your calendar are Rhythm & Alps, the Festival of Colour and Challenge Wanaka.

Winter is a busy time in Wanaka, as snow sports fans flock here for the excellent skiing and snowboarding. Local snow venues include Treble Cone, Cardrona and Snow Farm.
