The Riverboat Center and Museum is open all year-round Thursday - Saturday and the days the Paddle Steamer Waimarie operates. We can also open the museum by arrangement.
The Riverboat Centre and Museum offers interactive and static displays that share and tell the stories of the riverboat history. within our museum is the M.V. Ongarue, one of the original 12-strong Hatrick fleet that once worked the waters of the river, the M.V. Ongarue provides an opportunity to climb about and interact with aspects of the vessel, you can check out a working paddle wheel and read all about the places and far reaches the vessels operated. Don't forget to grab yourself a coffee from the Ngaporo Coffee bar, Nagaporo takes its name from a rapid on the Whanganui River and is how we share the story of this infamous section of Whanganui River.
