About

New Zealand’s very first zoo, Te Nukuao Wellington Zoo is a hillside conservation paradise that leaves visitors with a sense of wonder and respect for nature. Get up close to some of the world's most iconic animals and meet some of Aotearoa New Zealand's taonga (sacred) species. Watch the Keepers feed the sociable romp of Otters and the cheeky troop of Chimpanzees and book a Close Encounter with the Red Pandas, Capybaras, Meerkats, Giraffes, Sun Bear, Tiger, or Lions. Chat with the vets as they treat native wildlife at Te Kōhanga The Nest, the Zoo's state-of-the-art animal hospital. Enjoy a range of tasty snacks and beverages from REX Tremendous and Banana Bar, and browse the Zoo Shop for the perfect souvenir to take home.
