International flights operate between Queenstown and four Australian destinations - Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast.

Trans-Tasman flights are provided by Air New Zealand(opens in new window), Jetstar(opens in new window), Qantas(opens in new window) and Virgin Australia(opens in new window).

Domestic flights are operated by Air New Zealand and Jetstar; they link Queenstown with Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Transport Options

Queenstown Airport is located 10 minutes' drive from the town centre, in the suburb of Frankton.


From $10 adult one way - about 25 minutes

The Orbus services (opens in new window)all major hotels and motels every 15 minutes including Queenstown Airport.

Approximately from $10 per person - about 20 minutes

A shuttle(opens in new window) is a cost effective way to travel into the centre of the town. Discounts apply if two or more people are travelling together. Shuttles are normally shared with other passenger groups. The journey can take up to 30 minutes at peak traffic times or when there are several drop-offs along the way. Allow plenty of time to reach the airport for departing flights.


Approximately $45 - about 15 minutes

The above price and travelling time are for a journey between the airport and the centre of town. If you’re travelling to the airport by taxi(opens in new window), make sure you allow plenty of time.

Car rental

Major rental car companies(opens in new window) operate from the terminal building. Bookings are strongly recommended.
