About

A visit to Stoddart Cottage is an essential part of an enjoyable day out in Diamond Harbour, a small settlement on sun-drenched cliffs overlooking Lyttelton Harbour.

You can drive to Diamond Harbour or use public transport catching No. 28 Bus from Christchurch to Lyttelton which connects with the Black Cat ferry to cross the harbour. You will find Stoddart Cottage after a short walk up from the wharf.

Beautifully-sited Stoddart Cottage is the oldest colonial dwelling in Diamond Harbour and birthplace of impressionist painter Margaret Olrogg Stoddart (1865-1934). Art exhibitions change each month: painting, ceramics, textile art or photography. The gallery is staffed by friendly volunteers who are happy to answer any questions.
