About

The Whitianga Ferry has been in operation since 1895 and is one of New Zealand's most iconic attractions. It operates every day of the year and provides transport between Whitianga Wharf and Ferry Landing Wharf, the oldest surviving stone wharf in Australasia. Once arriving at Ferry landing walk 150m to Front Beach, one of the area's most beautiful sandy beaches, or explore a network of bush walks including Shakespeare Cliff and it's breathtaking lookout over Mercury Bay, the place where Captain Cook arrived in 1769. Take your bikes on the ferry and explore Lonely Bay, Cooks Beach, Hahei, and Hot Water Beach with plenty of fantastic cafes to call in at along the way. No bookings required.
