Most visitors to New Zealand are very surprised to discover that our largest city, Auckland, has some of the most interesting biodiversity in the country.

Auckland's Hauraki Gulf is home to several pest free islands, where important conservation work has taken place for several decades.

Conservation gems include Tiritiri Matangi, Little Barrier Island, Rangitoto Island and Motuihe Island.

These islands are home to some of the largest populations of endangered native birds, rare plants and New Zealand's ancient lizard, the Tuatara.

Not only this, but Auckland also has some of the best public parks in the country, with several located within the central city. Auckland Domain has beautiful hidden forest walks and streams and gardens around the University of Auckland features Oak Trees said to have been grown from acorns brought by the Colonials from Windsor Castle.

Join us for a privately guided urban nature walk and discover what makes New Zealand's environment unique in the world, right in the heart of the city.
