Abel Tasman Coast Track - Great Walk

Blessed with a mild climate, golden beaches and lush, coastal native bush, the Abel Tasman Coast Track has it all.

Marvel at the naturally sculptured granite cliffs and crystal clear water. Enjoy the beauty of the coastal forest and picturesque beaches of Abel Tasman National Park.

The 60km Abel Tasman Coast Track, one of the Great Walks managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC), takes three to five days to hike.

The track, which starts at Marahau (near Motueka) and ends at Wainui Bay (near Takaka), offers something for everyone, including family-friendly options.

You can choose to take a water taxi, or kayak between different locations. Accommodation at DOC's 4 Great Walks huts and 19 campsites must be booked in advance. Crossing sections of the track is dependent on tides. When planning your trip, check tide timetables.
