Burt Munro - Hailing from Invercargill, our own Kiwi legend and rider of the 'World's Fastest Indian' is celebrated every year at the Burt Munro Challenge event, the Southern Hemisphere's largest motorcycle rally. Like-minded bikers flock to Southland to experience the comradery and Kiwi hospitality whilst enjoying numerous events that are spread across five glorious fuel-filled days of motorcycle madness.
What's on? - The Southland Motorcycle Club created the event to honour Burt and his love of speed, so of course the racing is top of the must-see list. The Oreti Beach races provide an action packed day of thrills and spills on the beach where Burt himself pushed his Indian Scout to the limits. Watch from the dunes as the sand flies up behind the tires of riders in all classes of motorcycle, from classic bikes, 250cc's, 500cc's to ATV's! Street Racing, Hill Climb, Drag Racing, Sprint Racing and Speedway champs mean you're never far from two-wheeled adrenaline-filled entertainment for the whole family.
How to get there? - If you're travelling from overseas and have a valid full motorcycle licence, you can rent a motorcycle here in New Zealand and create your own adventure.
