New Zealand’s Premier Trout Fishing location

The Central North Island of New Zealand is well regarded for being home to some of the best trout fishing in the world.

Domestic and international travellers to Lake Taupo experience the outstanding fishing in this beautiful part of the world. Lake Taupo being the largest freshwater lake in Australasia covers an area of 615sqkms and reaches depths of over 600 ft.

Local fisherman Brett Cameron of Central Plateau Fishing is one of Lake Taupo’s premier fishing guides and is a member of NZPFGA CD’s pro network team, along with being a qualified skipper and first aider.

Central Plateau Fishing offer a range of packages from half day to multi day fishing trips, to the more extreme heli-fishing or quad biking through farmland to bush clad streams.

Central Plateau Fishing offer both fly fishing and lake fishing options. The lake fishing is done from their boat Maverick, a seven metre Haines Hunter with enclosed cabin toilet. It is powered by a 225hp Yamaha.

Lake Taupo offers many angling opportunities from spinning, jigging, down rigging and harling to float plane fishing. If so desired, sightseeing around the lake can also be included as part of the trip.

Central Plateau Fishing provide top quality gear for guests to use and refreshments are provided on shorter trips with lunch being provided on day tours.

Of course no trip would be complete without CPF’s mascot, Briggs the chocolate brown Labrador who accompanies Brett and the team on the trips.
