About

The Awatotara Bush Coastal Track takes you through native bush bursting with bird life, such as Chatham Islands parea (pigeon), tui, red-crowned parakeet, warblers and fantails out to the rugged coastline.

Visit the Taiko Camp, the Taiko Trust base and Gap Sanctuary that protects endemic Chatham plant and bird species. It is also the base for the translocation of Chatham Islands mollymawk (albatross) from The Pyramid Island. (This is a seasonal activity).

Tours are by arrangement only and your guides are Liz and Bruce Tuanui. Free entry but donations are welcome to the Taiko Trust.
