Base Camp is a car park between the beginning and end of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, just in front of the Tongariro Holiday Park. Park your car, hire your gear and use our shuttle for your return transport to the crossing.

Hire gear as needed.
You must call the day before to select your pick up time from those available on the day and to confirm pick up point eg accommodation. Please prepare yourself for conditions on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing adequately. Please be waiting outside on the road side at least ten minutes before the bus is due so that you do not miss the bus. If you miss the bus there is no refund. We go by and share a MetService weather report. We do not take responsibility for a change in the forecast.
Cancellations made within 24 hours of tour date incur a 100% cancellation fee. Cancellations made with more than 24 hours incur an administration charge of 30% of total booking fee. If we need to cancel due to poor or unsafe weather conditions on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, we offer a transfer on your ticket to another day that suits you or a full refund. No refund is given in the case of missing the bus.
Base Camp is a secure car park situated on State Highway 47 in front of the Tongariro Holiday Park. Handy as a pick up location if you are staying at the Tongariro Holiday Park. You can drive to this location in the morning and park your par there safely for the day while you do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Please note there are no toilets here. This is the cheapest return shuttle. Great for if you need to hire gear such as a jacket, hiking poles or boots (early shuttle only). We give you a map and information sheet to help you make the most of your day.
