Health and Safety: Wearing closed shoes is a must. If you feel anxious around bees, the best advice is to wear an extra layer, you'll be well protected in our bee suits, but long pants and tops will always protect you further, and plus - it's much easier to get into your bee suit in shorts or pants than it is in a skirt or dress! There's always the chance of getting stung so if you know you're allergic please let us know before you head out so we can make our beekeepers aware.
More than 96 hours in advance we will provide a full refund 48-96 hours notice = 50% cancellation fee 0-48 hours notice = 100% cancellation fee.
Our beekeeping experiences are a perfect addition to your foodie trip to the Wairarapa - bringing you a family friendly activity that's perfect for all ages. Our group numbers are capped at 8 to make sure you enjoy a fast paced, all you need to know about bees and honey in a 75 minute window. What you'll get to see will vary depending on the season and weather. At a minimum you can expect to see under the lid and observe the real workers, we'll find the queen bee, learn about the traceability systems we have in place and then enjoy a full honey tasting session at the end. Added extras include a tour through our native trees to identify what produces each honey and or filling your own jar of honey to take away with you.
