In 1966 Arnold Palmer drove the green, a 370 metres distance, then two-putted to halve with Bob Charles. Gary Player had hole in one on the par 4 283 metre Ridge hole during the New Zealand Open. Bobby Locke won the New Zealand Open here 1938 and Peter Thomson won in 1953 and 1971.
