Bay of Plenty

  • Scenic flights over huge orchards
  • Te Puke Heritage Walkway

The people of Te Puke get plenty of vitamin C, because this town is the hub of the kiwifruit growing industry.

Te Puke owes its prosperity to kiwifruit – a natural delicacy that's brown and furry on the outside; bright green and juicy on the inside. Hundreds of local growers produce millions of kiwifruit, which are exported worldwide. You can even visit a working kiwifruit orchard. Honey and bee-related health products are produced here too. Te Puke is also home to Comvita honey, their visitor centre offers a view of a working hive, and an interactive media experience about the working life of a New Zealand honey bee.
