Upper Hutt is a city for fresh air and outdoor fun. Hike or bike in the hills, fish in the river and stroll some of the 50 parks and reserves.

Upper Hutt boasts a big backyard of bushwalks and mountain biking tracks.

You can meet New Zealand’s quirky native creatures at Staglands Wildlife Park(opens in new window) or search for elves around the replica elvish archway from Lord of the Rings at Rivendell in Kaitoke(opens in new window).

If adrenaline sports is more your thing, take on the rapids and go white water rafting on Te Awa Kairangi with Wellington Rafting(opens in new window).

Down Main Street and surrounds you’ll find locally owned boutique shops. 

Now the really good part, Upper Hutt is home to Wellington’s only craft beer village, Brewtown(opens in new window). A hub of the region’s top breweries, a boutique distillery, delicious food and entertainment. Located onsite is Daytona Adventure Park(opens in new window), their entertainment complex complete with go-carting, ice skating, paintball, ten pin bowling and a trampoline park.

Entertain the kids at H2O Xtream(opens in new window) completes with wave pool and water slides. 

Whirinaki Whare Tāonga(opens in new window) often has great exhibitions on and let us not forget, Maidstone Max(opens in new window). Maidstone Max is a world class playground with a state of the art skate park, half basketball court, flying fox, pump track for scooters and bikes, sand play and musical play. It is also accessible for all abilities to enjoy.
