Warm Up To Sunny New Zealand this Winter Season

Should you travel to New Zealand during the US winter? The answer is yes. Always yes. Warm up this winter season in Sunny New Zealand.

Looking for ways to escape the cold this winter season? Why not take a trip down to New Zealand? When we put on the scarves and boots they’re settling into jandals (flip-flops) in the sun. There is never a bad time to visit New Zealand but their summer may be the solution to our winter blues!

Opposite Seasons Attract!

December and January are high seasons due to lots of travelers during New Zealand’s Summer holidays but when the holidays end, the cities calm down, the air is still warm and there is still plenty to do and see! Here are a few of our favorites:

In February, Check out the Marlborough Wine & Food Festival. This annual event brings together two things Kiwis love wine and good eats. Marlborough is known as one of the best wine regions in New Zealand and often famed as the most popular. Over 8,000 visitors stop by beautiful Brancott Estate to enjoy mouth-watering cuisine and taste some of the best wine in the world. Plus the balmy 75-80 degree weather will allow you to hit the defrost button from those chilly winter nights!

In March, Balloons Over Waikato is a must see. This 5-day event fills the Hamilton sky with giant, colourful, crazy patterned Hot Air Balloons. The event starts in the morning and goes through the night.  The weather is still in the 70s, the night-sky is illuminated by breathtaking floating globes and Hamilton is gorgeous this time of year.

Looking for something else? There are plenty of adventures in Auckland, you can kayak in the sun at the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park or you can drive to the tiny town of Raglan and learn to surf. There are so many things to do in New Zealand that we can’t list them all!

Better Deals for Travel

Come late February and March the kids are back at school and the locals tend to be back to their normal schedule. That means hotels, resorts, day tours, activities, etc. will all be a little less crowded. It also means you may come across some great deals when booking. Traveling to New Zealand during the shoulder season (Feb 1 - April 30, Jun 9 - Jul 23, Sep 27 - Dec 8) could prove to be quite a relief on the cheque book.
