A delay & / or cancellation due to weather is at the discretion of your skipper & will be communicated accordingly. Generally, a trip will cancel or be delayed due to exceptionally strong sea conditions where it is deemed to be unsafe for passengers & crew to travel on a given day.If the weather prevents access to the sea the boat & fishing component will be exchanged for a Heli Craypot Lift & extended cultural highlights, including Marae visit & carving interpretation in lieu.
14 – 10 days: 30% of trip value is retained by Muirs Tours. Balance will be refunded. 9 days or less: 100% cancellation penalty applies. Generally, a trip will be cancelled or be delayed due to exceptionally strong sea conditions where it is deemed to be unsafe for passengers and crew to travel on a given day. We recommend allowing a three-day window in your itinerary to provide flexibility for your guests, should weather affect activity plans.
15 minute scenic heli flight from Tauranga Airport to Maketū, including Mauao & coastline. 45 min cultural introduction to Maketū including local storytelling & visits to tribal landmarks. 3 hour ocean adventure onboard a 6.45m custom built Extreme Game King, including fishing rods, tackle, bait, light food & refreshments. 3 hr hands on interactive & feasting experience - assist to unearth the hangi pit, learn to fillet fish, prepare crayfish, shuck mussels & kina, eat straight from the shell. Home hosted experience for a Kai Hākari (feast) including hāngi (beef, lamb or pork, chicken, kumara, potato stuffing, steam pudding) salad, seafood, fried bread & beverage selection.
