About

See Aotearoa New Zealand's native wildlife icons with a ranger guiding your 40-minute tour. Find out more about these national treasures and see first hand fascinating insight into the lives of these wonderous creatures. Learn about kiwi and Ngā Manu’s involvement in the national captive programme. From the covered observation area you will be mesmerised how close you get to see the kiwi's natural behaviour. Walk along Tuatara alley and learn how Ngā Manu has been involved in survival of tuatara, raising tuatara in captivity for over 40 years with as many as 450 animals at any one time. Feed the Tuna (eels) as the ranger provides commentary on the long life cycle and the extraordinary journey they undertake. 40 mins drive from Wellington.
