In this 60-minute Ranger-led experience, you’ll observe the iconic kiwi in the Nocturnal House. Learn about their nocturnal behaviour, unique adaptations, and the conservation work helping to protect them across New Zealand. You’ll also encounter the remarkable tuatara, a living relic from the age of dinosaurs. Discover how this ancient reptile has survived virtually unchanged for millions of years, and why it remains a vital part of Aotearoa’s biodiversity story. The tour also explores the world of tuna (freshwater eels in Te reo Māori), including both shortfin and endangered longfin species. You’ll learn about their extraordinary life cycle, cultural significance, and the ecological importance of healthy freshwater habitats.
