カレン・ウォーカー、ワールド、ザンベジ、Nom Dなどのファッション・ブランドで知られるニュージーランド人デザイナーは世界を舞台に活躍しています。しかし、近年著しい発展を遂げているニュージーランドのファッション業界では、彼らも、才能あるデザイナーのほんの一握りにしか過ぎません。

今後の活躍が期待されるケイト・シルベスターとニコラス・ブランシェットはブランドを確立したばかりです。また、その後に続くナタリヤ・クシーヤとターニャ・カールソンも若い感性と都会の洗練さを兼ね備えた新星です。

毎年開催される「ニュージーランド・ファッション・ウィーク」は、ニュージーランドのデザイン、洋裁技術やスタイルの先進性を世界に宣伝する意味で重要な役割を果たしています。

Dunedin-based New Zealand designer Tanya Carlson is renowned for stunning collections that marry superb tailoring with exquisite detail.

Carlson specialises in crafted clothing that always has an element of surprise. Hand-painted fabrics, delicate hand-beading or an unexpected construction technique are key elements of Carlson's fashion signature.

Dunedin is regarded as an edgy, innovative fashion centre. Every year in March, the city hosts the iD Dunedin Fashion Week in the beautifully restored Dunedin Railway Station.
