Just five minutes from picturesque Paihia you'll find a network of mountain bike trails that feature everything from fast, flowing berms, rollers and jumps, to family-friendly trails that make the most of the elevated views.

While in the area, take the time to explore the spectacular Bay of Islands, historic Waitangi Treaty Grounds(opens in new window) and charming Russell. Make sure to keep riding and explore the Twin Coast Cycle Trail, a scenic journey from one side of Northland to another.

Riding the track

Whether you're a beginner looking for easy, scenic trails, or a more advanced rider chasing a challenge, the Waitangi Mountain Bike Park(opens in new window) offers trails for everyone, from Grade 1 to 5.

With 50km of varying difficulty trails, you can expect downhill riding, jump trails, cross country and beginner areas. Designed by Jeff Carter from Southstar Trails, the park has grown rapidly since opening in October 2016, with plans to continue development.

A shuttle service take riders from the bottom of the hill to the top, where the vertical elevation provides a lot of fun for a small amount of climbing.
