Play holes, awesome rapids, lush forest scenery – sledging is a seriously awesome Rotorua must-do. In the late 70’s, some keen Frenchmen were lying on bags full of life jackets and polystyrene, floating downstream. This style of adventure caught on, and soon after the first water sledge was build.
Sledging is now a professional sport in Europe, and gaining popularity in NZ. Give it a crack with Kaitiaki!
With flippers on your feet and a life jacket, you are in charge of your own vessel as you take on the river at eye-level. Our awesome guides are there to motivate and encourage, and help out where necessary. Sledging is an awesome family adventure if you’ve got teenage kids – the minimum age is 13.
