The Alpine Co operates the earliest daily shuttle to the Mangatepopo start of the hike. Since 2002. A short 13 minute drive to the start. The Alpine Co is owned & operated by Discovery Lodge, which is the closest staging point to the Mangatepopo start. This service is not for everyone. This service is not for those wishing to merely "tick off their bucket list". If you're adventurous, and you wanting a special Tongariro Crossing experience then this might be for you. The Alpine Co & Discovery Lodge is owned & operated by local, ex New Zealand Mountain running champion, 5 times World Mountain Running rep & helicopter pilot Callum Harland. He's most passionate about helping you enjoy the best Tongariro has to offer.
