On The Civic Tour you will climb around 300 steps as you move throughout foyers and spaces. While there are railings and a number of rests throughout the tour when the guide shares our stories, you will not have the opportunity to sit for any long period of time during the tour. Please meet in the front foyer of The Civic – 15 minutes prior to the tour.

Our knowledgeable tour guide shares this atmospheric theatre’s fascinating history, from its inception and design in the 1920s, its scandalous war years, its decline during the 60s and 70s, and its triumphant restoration and status as one of Auckland’s architectural treasures. This is an exciting opportunity to see The Civic like never before, visit areas off-limits to the public, capture unique photographs and discover all the secrets that bring this amazing venue to life. At the end of the tour, enjoy a complimentary barista made coffee, cup of tea or juice or soft drink at The Civic’s Stark’s Café and Bar where you can relax and soak up the atmosphere.
